Henry Franklin Tinch and Charity Hurst

Charity A. HURST was born on 29 Dec 1828 in Morgan County and died on 5 Oct
1903 in Coles Co IL. Before 1849 she married Henry Franklin Tinch. Henry
was born on 18 Feb 1827 in Tennessee and died on 29 May 1898 in Mattoon,
Coles County, Illinois. Both Charity and Henry were buried in the Dodge
Grove Cemetery in Coles County.

They had the following children:
1. Desting Tinch was born about 1849, probably in Morgan County Tennessee.
2. Mary F. Tinch was born about 1853 in Morgan or Fentress County.
3. Andrew J. Tinch was born about 1856 in Morgan or Fentress County.
4. Robert E. Tinch was born about 1858, probably in Fentress County.
5. Melissa Tinch was born about 1862 in Fentress County.
6. William Tinch was born about 1864 in Coles County Illinois.
7. Emma (Anna) Tinch was born about 1866 in Coles County.
8. John H. (maybe Hurst?) Tinch was born about 1870 in Coles County.

Morgan Co. Deed book I, page 89, shows that Henry F. Tinch purchased 300
acres from Simeon HURST, Charity?s brother, on 29 Jan 1850. Further
research will probably show that he sold the tract before 1860.

The 1850 census, enumerated on 27 Sep 1850, for Morgan County, Tennessee,
on page 297, lists the following family at dwelling number 302, family
number 302.

Nearby neighbors were Wesley Hurst (brother in law) and Simeon Hurst
(brother in law) on one side and Jesse Howard and G. W. Lavender on the
other.

On 6 Dec 1858, Henry purchased 100 acres of land in Fentress Co. from John
Wood and a little over a year later, on 23 Jan 1860, he purchased another
100 acres from Carriett McCort.

The 1860 census, enumerated on 2 Aug 1860, for Fentress County, Tennessee,
on page 118, lists the following family at dwelling number 781, family
number 725.

Nearby neighbors were John Wood Sr. and Jr. on one side and ?? and ??.

Evidently they went to Illinois sometime between Just before the Civil War
broke out, since the youngest children on the 1870 census, ages 4 and 6,
were born in Illinois. By August 1870 Henry had sold all real estate in
Fentress county, most to his brother, Wiley Tinch.
